About Us

The 50+ Project is revolutionising how communities respond to aging, HIV, and comorbidities. We are an innovative, community-led, owned, and managed resilience network, forging a collaborative and integrated support system that enhances prevention, treatment, and psychosocial well-being for older persons aged 50 and above, regardless of HIV status.

We are actively reshaping the landscape of health and socio-economic development, embedding community ownership at the core of sustainable impact. Operating across all nine provinces of South Africa, our work spans the 15 communities mapped during the STEPSSA 50 Plus Scoping Exercise, ensuring that our interventions are data-driven, evidence-based, and deeply rooted in lived realities.

We are leveraging multisectoral collaborations, working to break siloed approaches through integrating community-led solutions into existing health and social structures. Through strong partnerships with community-based organizations (CBOs), we are empowering communities to lead, fostering resilience, and ensuring that older persons receive tailored, dignified, and effective support.

We are not just building networks—we are shifting mindsets, transforming lives, and ensuring that aging with dignity is a right, not a privilege.
